Adam Byron-Thomsen

Adam Byron-Thomsen is a teacher of 12 years who has worked within a variety of contexts, including secondary and primary schools, with recent migrants, refugees and in mainstream schools. Father of two and an avid gardener, he is currently a stay at home parent, an occupation that poses a lot of opportunities for small scale sustainable design, humbling by natural forces and deep thinking about that most important of natural assets, our children. Adam is an active member of his local community, assisting in the running of a gardening club at the local primary school, installing sensory gardens at the local preschool and leading an eco playgroup for young children and their parents to learn more about their natural environment, open ended play in nature, planting, harvesting and preserving. Having had the opportunity to work in a number of professions from organic farming and driving a forklift in an organic warehouse and a holder of a Permaculture Design Certificate, Adam views sustainability and our current challenges as an opportunity to activate positive social, environmental and economic change.
