Community Development Principles

Emerald Community House will be running ‘Intro to Community Development Principles’ for the first semester in 2016. This practical approach to community development and capacity building in communities facing adversity will include project planning, work experience, development and implementation of initiatives and programs that build community strength, resilience, inclusion and engagement. Course participants will improve communication skills, understand differences and build teamwork skills.
This course will provide pathways to further studies in anthropology, international law, politics and international relations, sociology and social policy, humanitarian studies, refugee studies, and migration studies, event management, community cultural development and community services.

This course is ideal for 18-25 year olds, women over 35, mature age, multicultural community members, volunteers of community groups, emergency management sector and local government employees. Contact the House for start dates.
